Sometimes the memory is just too raw…that is the point. Can memories be commoditised as premium assets? Like memories themselves this play is sometimes warm and cuddly, other times hard-hitting and gut-wrenching. I laughed and cried at Beverly Klein and Rachel Barry’s wonderful performances and cringed at Ben Wiggins’ corporate smarm, but most of all I found myself agog at the moral and emotional questions Noga Flaishon’s pacy script was asking – her innovative concept is literally mind boggling.
Yes it uses the ownership and inheritance of survivors’ Holocaust memories as its central theme but the questions raised are wider.
Performed in the round, the play runs only till Nov 21 and Southwark Playhouse is just a few minutes walk from Elephant & Castle tube.
