A special themed Community Tea was held on 8th May to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day. The shul was decorated with red, white and blue bunting, union flags and celebratory plates and serviettes.
As well as the wonderful fare of sandwiches, cakes and pastries, we heard stories of VE Day itself from those that could remember. The afternoon finished with a singalong of old favourites led by Northwood & Ruislip’s own ‘Beverley Sisters’, Pauline Binstock, Ingrid Segal and Stephanie Franks with musical accompaniment on harmonica from Rod Hutchinson. The songs included The Lambeth Walk, Bluebirds Over the White Cliffs of Dover and of course We’ll Meet Again.
A good time was had by all and thanks are due to our amazing Northwood & Ruislip Network community team who organised the event.
